            Note:  The Thai names of the listed Plumeria varieties have not been transliterated mechanically letter by letter from written Thai language

            but have rather been written down considering and  following the sound of the spoken names in Thai as close a possible, without neglecting

            the order of Thai alphabetic letters in written Thai completely.

            Plumeria # 1

            Local name: Daeng Udon ( pronounce: daeng ( as in bang ! ) oo-don )

            A healthy plant that produces light red, star shaped flowers with golden center of  7.0 to 9.0 cm

            ( 2.5" to 3.5" ) in diameter.

            Flowers are of light substance and keeping quality is poor.

            Flowering habit: Flowers appear all year long, opening successively 

            Fragrance: Mild, fruity with some honey flavor

            Habit: broad upright

            

            Plumeria # 2

            Local name: Lueang Supan ( pronounce : lueang soo-pan )

            Produces large clusters of yellow flowers of  7.5cm to 9 cm (2.5" to 3.5" ) in diameter,

            which open from cream-yellow or greenish-yellow buds.

            Color: yellow on white background, often with darker yellow center.

            Petals moderately overlapping. 

            Fragrance: Spicy, strong citrus fragrance.

            Slightly shiny leaves, elliptic with acute pointed tip.

 

            Plumeria # 3

 

            Local name: Daeng Kama Yee ( pronounce: daeng ka-ma-yee )

            Pure dark red flowers of  7.5cm to 9.0 cm (2.5" to 3.5" ) in diameter open from very dark red

            buds. Petals slightly overlapping.

            Fragrance: mild

            Leaves: elliptical with pointed tip.

 

            Plumeria # 4

  

            Local name: Som Garasin  ( pronounce: sawm ga-ra-sin ( short aw as in ton)  Common name: Penang Peach

            Yellow-orange flowers with red veins and markings of 2" to 3" (6.0 to 7.5 cm) in diameter

            appear in dense clusters. Petals overlapping, of good substance and keeping quality.

            A remarkable characteristic of this variety is the alteration of color depending on the season.

            The flowers will turn towards red in hot and dry weather and display much more yellow during

            cooler temperatures.

            Fragrance: mild, fruity reminiscent of Peach

            Broad elliptical leaves are of medium green color with pointed tip and do display distinct veining.

 

            Plumeria # 5

 

            Local name: Lueang Gandjana  ( pronounce: lueang gkan- dja - naa )   Common name: Bali Palace

            Yellow flowers of 5.0 to 7.5 cm ( 2" to 3" ) in diameter.

            Heavy overlapping oval petals, white on backside, do have a tendency to curve inwards from the rim.

            Flowers are of heavy substance and keeping quality is good.

            Fragrance: spicy citrus

            Leaves: Sharp pointed , elliptic.

 

            Plumeria # 6

 

            Local name:  Khao Puang  ( pronounce: khao poo-ang ) Common name: Singapore

            Well known evergreen Plumeria with dark green glossy leaves and well branching habit.

            Flowers average 7.5 cm ( 3") in diameter, pure white with yellow center.

            Leaves: beautiful dark green, obovate with rounded tip

            Strong Frangipani fragrance. Keeping quality poor.

 

             Plumeria # 7

 

             Local name: Chompoo Nut ( pronounce: chom-poo nut (as in hood ))   Common Name: Slaughter Pink

             Large pink and white flowers with yellow-orange center of 3" to 3.5'" ( 7.5 to 9 cm ) in

             diameter. Petals separated, narrow and reflexed.

             Fragrance: medium to strong, sweet fragrance with a hint of Citrus

             Good keeping quality.

             Leaves: broad elliptical with elongated pointed tip. Medium green.

             

 

            Plumeria # 8

 

            Local and common name: Dwarf Pink Singapore

            A tight branching , compact growing plant that is perfect for small spaces.

            Pink buds open to white flowers with yellow golden center.

            Petals separated, obovate. Nice lemon fragrance.

            Leaves: bright green, semi glossy, abundant.

 

            Plumeria # 9

 

            Local name: Chompoo Khao Yai    ( pronounce : chom-poo khao yai )   Common name: Sweet Candy

            Large pink flowers of  7.5 cm to 11.0 cm ( 3" to 4" ) open from red flower buds.

            Petals long, separated, pink over white background with golden yellow tint towards center.

            Fragrance: Mild, fruity 

            Leaves elliptical with pointed tip.

 

 

            Plumeria # 10

 

            Local name: Pet Sairung  ( pronounce: pet sai-rung )   Common name: Pinwheel Rainbow

            Pinwheel shaped flowers display a strong red and yellow-orange color combination of 

            3" to 4" ( 7.5cm to 10 cm ) in diameter.

            Mild, sweet fragrance

            Leaves elliptic with pointed and sometimes with rounded tip.

 

            Plumeria # 11

            

            Local name: Chompoo Paan   ( pronounce: chom-poo paan ( as in calm ))    

            Beautiful pink, yellow and white flowers with small golden reddish eye of 3" to 3.5"

            ( 7.5cm to 9.0 cm ) in diameter.

            Petals: separated, pointed and slightly twisted.

            Fragrance: sweet, medium

            Leaves: medium green, elliptical with pointed tip

            Note: Nice rainbow type Plumeria that is not well known yet.

            Plumeria # 12

            

            Local name: Chompoo Pet ( pronounce: chom-poo pet )

            Smaller cup-shaped flowers open from pink buds to white with a yellow throat and red eye.

            Heavily overlapping petals form a flower of average 5.0cm ( 2" ) in diameter.

            Medium, sweet fragrance.

            Leaves elliptic with acute pointed tip. 

            Plant produces strong, thick branches

 

            Plumeria # 13

 

            Local name: Lueang Sakhon ( pronounce: lueang sa-khon )

            Pink buds open to white and yellow flowers with overlapping petals.

            Flowers average 4.0 to 5.0 cm ( 2" ) in diameter.

            Petioles reddish.

            Fragrance: medium

            Leaves: elliptic with acute pointed tip.

            Note this is a very robust Plumeria and is frequently being used as a root-stock for grafting in Thailand

 

            Plumeria # 14

 

            Local name: Daeng Sayam ( pronounce: daeng sa-yaam ( as in calm )) Common name: Siam Red

            A nice red variety of rounded shape and 6.0cm to 8.0cm (2.5" to 3" ) in diameter.

            The flower consists of oval, strongly overlapping petals of heavy substance.

            Color: dark red of velvety appearance, dusted with gold towards center.

            Fragrance: none or very slight.

            Keeping quality: good

            Leaves: young unfolding leaves dark red, later medium to dark green with some bronze shading.

 

            Plumeria # 15

 

            Local name: Chompoo Sairung ( pronounce Chom-poo sai-rung )

            Overlapping oval petals form these nice cupped flowers of pink over white background.

            New flowers are pink with stronger pink along edges and show some darker pink or red

            veining. Yellow towards center with red eye. Average diameter: 2" (5.0 cm)

            The pink color of the flowers is fading to almost white when mature.

            Leaves: Dark green, elliptical with pointed tip.

 

            Plumeria # 16

 

            Local Name: Som Raya ( pronounce: sawm - ra-yaa ( aa as in calm ))

            Wide open golden orange flowers with separated petals of  up to 3" ( 7.5 cm ) in diameter.

            Colors more intense after dormancy during cool season, turning orange - brown.

            Plant has long , oblanceolate shaped  leaves with pointed tip.

            Fragrance: medium

            Habit: strong grower

            Note: this plant has been sold in the USA under the name: Firestorm

 

            Plumeria # 17

 

            Local name: Chiang Mai Rainbow

            Deep pink to maroon-pink buds develop into star-shaped flowers of white and yellow with

            shades of pink and red-orange throat. Diameter : 3 to 3.5" ( 7.5cm to 9.0 cm )

            Petals slightly overlapping, sometimes 6 petals on one flower.

            Fragrance: strong and fresh spicy lemon fragrance

            Leaves : elliptical with pointed tip

            Note: one of the best intense fragrance varieties from Thailand originating from Chiang Mai Province

 

            Plumeria #18

 

            Local name: Daeng Mang Mee ( pronounce: daeng mang mee )

            Strongly overlapping oval petals on these cup-shaped  flowers of 2" ( 5 to 6.0 cm ) in diameter.

            Rather strong contrasting colors of golden-yellow with orange to dark red shading over about half 

            of the petal area.

            Fragrance: medium strong, reminiscent of Coconut oil

            Leaves: medium green, covered with white hairs when young, elliptical with pointed tip and thin red line along margin.

 

            Plumeria # 19

 

            Local name: Saeng Dao ( pronounce: saeng dao )

            Smaller flowers of about 2" ( 5.0 cm ) in diameter with white separated petals and yellow center.

            Sweet fragrance and rich flowering.

            Dense foliage of rather narrow, long leaves with pointed tips.

            This plant is branching well and has a compact habit.

 

            Plumeria # 20

            

            Local name: Som Samgko ( pronounce: sawm sam-gko )

            2.5" to 3.5" ( 6.0 to 9.0 cm ) wide star-shaped flowers with separated petals.

            Red-orange, fading to red and cream with age.

            Leaves: medium green, elliptical with elongated pointed tip

            Fragrance: medium

 

            Plumeria # 21

 

            Local name: Muang Bendjapan ( pronounce: moo-ang ben-dja-pan )

            Flowers of 2" ( 5.0 cm ) average in diameter compose a dense truss of mauve-pink

            flowers with small red dots and veining. Petals overlapping, fading to light mauve-pink with age.

            Orange-golden throat.

            Leaves: medium green

            Fragrance: faint, sweet.

 

            Plumeria # 22

 

            Local name: Lueang Bendjapan ( pronounce: lueang ben-dja-pan )

            Beautiful flowers of 2" to 3" ( 5.0 to 7.5 cm ). White and yellow, twisted petals.

            Medium strong, sweet fragrance

            Leaves: medium to dark green, elliptical with pointed tip

            Habit: plant is a strong grower which produces thick branches

 

            Plumeria # 23

 

            Local name: Somwadee ( pronounce: Sawm-wa-dee )

            Deep pink flower-buds open to 2" to 3" ( 5.0 cm to 7.5 cm ) flowers with overlapping 

            petals. Light pink with red overlay and red veining, turning to gold-orange towards center.

            Fragrance: medium, sweet

            Leaves: medium green, elliptical with pointed tip and distinctive veining

            

            Plumeria # 24

 

            Local name: Lueang Sam Gko ( pronounce: lueang sam gko )

            Champagne colored buds open to 3" to 4" ( 7.50 to 10.0 cm ) flowers.

            ( average: 8.0 cm ) of yellow and white.

            Similar to Lueang Supan but the truss carries more flowers ( up to 150 ) and the flowers

            are larger.

            Fragrance: strong, fresh citrus fragrance

            Leaves: large, medium green, elliptical with pointed tip

 

            Plumeria # 25

 

            Local name: Chompoo Puang Roi  ( pronounce: chom-poo poo-ang roi )

            2" to 2.5" ( average: 6.0 cm ) flowers, pink with mauve or purple tint and orange center.

            Petals strongly overlapping, rounded, forming a cup shaped flower.

            Dense trusses carrying more  than 150 buds and flowers.

            Fragrance: fresh and sweet, reminiscent of wild strawberries

            Leaves: medium green, elliptical with pointed tip

 

            Plumeria # 26

 

            Local name: Chompoo Chiang Khong ( pronounce: chom-poo chee-ang khong )

            Pink flower buds open to unfold 2" to 3" ( 5.0 to 7.5 cm ) delicately shaped flowers

            of light pink and white with a yellow center. Petals overlapping, twisted, of medium substance,

            white with pink shading along outer side: turning yellow to orange towards base and display 

            red veining.

            Fragrance: medium to strong sweet fragrance

            Leaves: elliptical with pointed tip

 

            Plumeria # 27

 

            Local name: Poy Nang Nuea ( pronounce: poy nang - nuea )

            Cup shaped flowers of 2" ( 5.0 cm ) average diameter.

            Overlapping, rounded petals of gold and orange with pink to red tint along margin, fading to

            pink and yellow with age.

            Fragrance: medium, sweet

            Leaves: medium green, elliptical with conspicuous veining and pointed tip

 

            Plumeria # 28

 

            Local name: Lanna

            Dark red flower buds open to red flowers of 2" to 3" ( 5.0 to 7.5 cm ) in diameter.

            Petals slightly overlapping, oval and recurved, red with white stripes and striations along

            middle, orange towards center.

            Backside of flower pink with strong dark red band along margin.

            Beautiful contrast of white and red on these flowers, most conspicuous during the cool

            and dry season in tropical climates.

 

            Plumeria # 29

 

            Local Name: Chompoo Vientiane ( pronounce: chom-poo vee-en-tee-anne )

            Dark Pink buds develop into pink flowers of average 2.5" ( 6.0 cm ) in diameter with

            yellow center, gradually fading to light pink or almost white when mature.

            Petals overlapping, more intense mauve-pink along edges.

            Backside light pink with red striations and yellow shading at base.

            Different flower stages in the truss produce a lovely contrast.

            Fragrance: medium sweet fragrance, reminiscent of wild strawberries.

            Leaves: medium, elliptical with pointed tip.

 

            Plumeria # 30

 

            Local name: Pramuan's Delight ( pronounce: pra-moo-an )

            Lovely and well balanced combination of pink with white and yellow on these remarkable

            flowers. Petals are separated and only slightly overlapping : mainly pink with some red veining,

            turning to yellow towards center and joining in a red star-shaped eye.

            Diameter: 2.5" to 3" ( 6.0 to 7.5 cm )

            Flowers are forming ball shaped trusses. Pink color intensifying during cool season in tropical

            climate.

            Fragrance: sweet honey fragrance

            Leaves: medium green with wavy margins and pointed tip

            Habit: broad upright

 

            Plumeria # 31

            

            Local name: Som Suay ( pronounce: sawm soo-ay )

            Orange flowers of 2" to 3" ( 5.0cm to 7.50 cm )- average 6.0 cm

            Overlapping slightly twisted petals, golden to orange with pink and some red veining.

            Colors less intense with age and increasingly bluish on the pink area.

            Fragrance: medium to strong, sweet and fresh fragrance

            Leaves: dark green, broad - obovate with conspicuous veining and pointed tip

 

            

             Plumeria # 32

        

            Local Name: Lueang Thammasat ( pronounce: lueang- ta-ma-saat ( aa as in calm ))

            Flower: 3” to 4” ( 7.5 to 10 cm ) in diameter, average 3.5” ( 9.0 cm )

            Slightly overlapping, oval petals -  yellow to orange or reddish - yellow with strong red area along rim.

            Light yellow or cream on the backside with strong red band.

            Keeping quality: good

            Fragrance: rich fragrance of Vanilla and Honey

            Leaves: dark green, obovate with pointed tip

            Habit: broad upright

 

           

            Plumeria # 33

 

            Local name: Pretty Princess

            Large flowers of 3.5” to 4.5”, occasionally 5" ( 9.0 to 11.5 cm ) in diameter

            Overlapping oval petals, pink with golden – yellow and orange towards center and distinctive red veining

            Fragrance: medium, honey

            Leaves: medium green, elliptical with pointed tip

            Please note:

            Pretty Princess was discovered in  a nursery near Ang Thong where is was selected from seedlings of Chompoo Khao Yai.

            Its flowers are among the largest and most beautiful of all Thai Plumeria varieties so far.

            Common Name:  Intense Rainbow

            Yellow and red flowers of 2.5” to 3.5” ( 6.0 cm to 8.0 cm ) in  diameter. Petals slightly overlapping at base, separated and pointed.

            Intense yellow towards center, fading to light yellow towards tip, light red.

            Fragrance:  medium, reminiscent of honey

            Leaves: medium green, broad, obovate ( wider towards tip ), pointed tip.

            Growing habit: broad upright

            

            Plumeria # 35

            

            Local Name: Chompoo Bannagkan ( pronounce: chom-poo ba-na-gkan )

            2.5” ( 6.5 cm ) average diameter flowers of pink over white background and yellow center, producing full trusses of conspicuous pink

            Petals heavy overlapping, almost circular but slightly pointed and with wavy margin.

            Fragrance: medium, sweet and fruity

            Leaves: dark green, pointed tip.

            Common Name: Coral Cream

            Pink flower-buds open to pink, white and yellow flowers with orange-red eye. 

            Petals overlapping, twisted, light pink with more intense pink along rim, display conspicuous red veining. 

            Elegantly shaped flowers that produce large trusses.

            Diameter: 2.5” to 3.5” ( 6.0 to 9.0 cm )

            Local Name: Chompoo Sasigkan ( pronounce: chom-poo sa-see-gkan )

            Red flower-buds open to light yellow and pink flowers of 2.0” to 4.0” ( 5.0 cm to 10.0 cm ) in diameter, displaying a delicate color

            composition.

            Petals overlapping, light yellow to cream-yellow with pink shading when young . Later fading to pure white with pink narrow

            area along rim upon reaching maturity.

            Fragrance: sweet and fresh, medium intensity

            Leaves: medium green, hairless, elliptical with pointed tip

            Habit : branches well, produces 4 to 5 new branches after flowering.

            Note: when growing conditions are ideal flowers are reaching 4.0" in diameter, producing impressive trusses.

            Local Name: Khao Malee ( pronounce: khao ma-lee )

            White flowers with yellow center of average 2” ( 5.0 – 6.0 cm ).

            Rich flowering variety with dense trusses producing multiple flowers.

            Fragrance: medium to strong, fresh.

            Leaves: medium green, elliptical with pointed tip

            Local Name: Muang Daeng ( pronounce: moo-ang daeng ( ae as in bang ))

            Astonishing color composition on this new Plumeria -

            3” to 3.5” ( 7.0 to 9.0 cm ) flowers  lilac to mauve with glowing orange-golden center.

            Petals slightly overlapping, pointed with slightly wavy margin,

            lilac over bluish-mauve background, turning to orange and gold towards center.

            Fragrance: medium to strong, reminiscent of perfume

            Leaves: medium green with light green veining, elliptical, pointed tip.

            Common Name: Christine B.

            2.5" to 3.0" ( 6.0 - 7.50 cm ) flowers of pink and yellow.

            Petals: overlapping and rounded, pink with darker pink along margin, yellow towards base.

            Fragrance: sweet, medium intensity

            Leaves: medium green with light green veining and faint red line along margin.

          Note:  Nice pink variety, producing full flower-heads with multiple buds.

            Local Name: Mangkonyok  ( also called Muang Mangkonyok, Saeng Manee, Purple Jaded Dragon )

            ( pronounce: mang-kon-yok )

            2" to 3" ( 5.0 to 7.50 cm ) red or purple-red and yellow flowers.

            Petals overlapping, round, golden-yellow with red to purple-red area along edge and red veining spreading from the base.

            Flower buds dark red, petioles dark red to almost black.

            Fragrance:  medium, honey with a hint of wild strawberry

            Leaves: medium to dark green, conspicuously long and narrow, pointed tip

            Unusual and conspicuous Plumeria with very interesting color combination and other good qualities.

            Leaves: medium green to dark green, elliptical with pointed tip.

            Local Name: Daeng Tabtim ( pronounce: daeng tub-tim)

            2.0" to 2.5" ( 5.0 to 6.0 cm ) purple and yellow flowers with red veining spreading from center.

            Petals heavily overlapping, almost circular, purple to maroon, increasingly along margin, turning to yellow

            towards base.

            Fragrance: intense, sweet

            Leaves: medium green, elliptical with pointed tip

       

 

            Plumeria # 45

 

            Local Name: Bun Yen ( pronounce boon yen ( oo is a short u however and pronounce yen as in zen ))

            3" to 3.5" flowers ( 7.5 to 8.5 cm )

            Petals almost circular in shape, strongly overlapping, light pink with red overlay of web-like markings and

            striations. Yellow-orange throat, size about 30% of flower diameter

            Fragrance : medium, smooth - honey

            Leaves: dark green, elliptical with pointed and slightly elongated tip

 

            Plumeria # 46

 

            Local Name: Chompoo Sin ( pronounce: chom-poo sin )

            This plant is similar to Chompoo Nut ( Slaughter Pink ) but has a different flower shape and more intense

            coloration.

            3" ( 7.50 cm ) pink flowers with yellow throat and some orange veining spreading from the eye.

            Oval petals with slightly pointed tip are overlapping and of medium substance. Recurved when mature.

            Fragrance: smooth, medium

            Leaves: broad elliptical,olive-green with conspicuous light green veining and pointed tip.

           

            Plumeria # 47

           

            Common and local name: Salmon Brown

            Similar to Salmon Pink ( see #72 ) but flowers are slightly smaller with rounded, heavily overlapping petals.

            Cream to light brown with more or less intense salmon tint and some darker veining.

            Special note: the salmon color intensity is increasing with the exposure of the plant to sunlight.

            In the shade the flower colors will be less intensive.

            Common and local name:  Muang Sengyam ( Purple # 2 ) ( pronounce: moo-ang seng-ee-um)

            2” to 2.5” ( 5.0 to 6.0 cm ) mauve-purple flowers with golden-orange throat and some dark red veining spreading from center.

            Color fading with age, turning to bluish-grey or bluish silver on mature flower.
