Heliconia excelsa - view close up picture of inflorescence

                A rare species from Ecuador which will grow 8' to 15' ( 2.40m to 4.50 m )high in full sun to half shade.

                Beautiful pendent inflorescence consisting of more than 30 bracts and often more than 3'

                long. Bracts are red to burgundy-red with contrasting yellow sepals.

                A very interesting aspect is the distinctive shape of the bracts which form a funnel shaped 

                opening with well developed curved lips.

                Very long lasting when used as a cut flower.

                Please note that the rhizomes of this species are large and heavy ( weight about 1 kg)
