Pleiostachya pruinosa (Regel) K.Schum - Wheat Calathea - Marantaceae

                    This plant has been called Wheat Calathea for its inflorescence, which is reminiscent of Wheat and carries small purple flowers.

                    A graceful and elegant foliage plant that grows upright and reaches a height of 1.50 to 3.0 m ( ten feet ).

                    Long, dark-green leaves are purple-maroon on the undersides, being held high on thin stalks.

                    Likes 10 to 30% of shade. Cut-flowers lasting about 10 days.

                    A very nice plant for landscaping, especially in combination with water.
